The most hyped concealer ever?

Anyone who has seen any beauty videos on YouTube will have been unable to escape the concealer that is the Tarte Shape Tape. Literally every YouTuber ever seems to be using, and loving it! Being easily swayed by reviews, I had to get involved in this and asked for the concealer for my birthday.

If you're in the UK, you can order this concealer either directly from the Tarte website or via QVC. The QVC website is limited on the colour selection however, the Tarte website will charge you around about £10 for delivery (so worth buying a few things in one go!) I got the shade fair beige which is one of the newer shades and is a fair colour with a very pink undertone. Perfect for me as this is exactly my skin tone!

This concealer has a great shade range for fairer skin tones-being very pale I am usually limited to just getting the lightest shade, but Tarte have 3 or 4 different fair concealers in different undertones for you to choose from. I can't really comment on the darker end as this is not something I have really explored but I think it's good that Tarte have recently added more shades. Below are some swatches of the different concealers I own against the Tarte Shape Tape.

From left to right: Mac Pro Longwear in NW15, Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer in Chantilly and Vanilla, Tarte Shape Tape in Fair Beige, Nars Creamy Concealer in Vanilla.

Now onto the consistency. This is a very opaque concealer and needs to be handled with care, especially if you have dryer skin or lines around your eyes (I have only really used this as an under eye concealer). When I first got it I used it like all the YouTubers I had seen-applied big, thick triangles under each eye and tried to blend it, and I hated it. I could not understand why everyone raved about it. It creased horrendously and highlighted all the dry patches on my skin. After some experimentation I have found the best thing to do is to put some dots a little way under my eye and gradually blend it upwards with my finger before finishing with a sponge. This way it doesn't crease (well, no worse than any other concealer-I have horrible lines already at the age of 28 which I just can't escape!) and seems to last all day.

So in conclusion-if you have skin that is on the oilier/normal end you will LOVE this concealer. If you have dry skin you will have to work a little harder to get it to work. Don't get me wrong, I do like this concealer and will continue to use it but it's just not quite a 10 out of 10 for me (and if anyone knows a 10/10 concealer that's perfect for dry skin and doesn't crease at all please let me know!)

Have you used this concealer? What did you think? Let me know in the comment box below!

Love Bertie xx
